Elections are an important component in the development of any country and development is not possible without it, the opinion of the voters and fulfilment of the promises made to them is also very important. This study will show how American presidential candidates make promises to their constituents in their election campaigns and whether or not they make those promises part of their policy later on when they win the election. The two leading Newspaper New York Times and the Washington Post would be selected to determine exactly what promises the presidential candidates made to their voters. While the promises made by candidates during the election campaign will be taken from the leading newspapers in their election speeches. I would take Donald Trump V/S Hillary Clinton, (2016-2020) U.S Election. I would quantify those promises made by both the U.S candidates in the presidential election campaign (six months’ election campaign) published in Newspapers. On the basis of data collected I would verify/negate the promises fulfilled, how many of promises were commonly made by the candidates, apart from how many promises of them supported each other and how many he opposed.

After this research, we would be able to find out the conclusion as to what is the benefit of fulfilling these promises and what is the harm if these promises are not fulfilled, based on this research, we will try to conclude what kind of promises candidates should make to voters for the upcoming elections and how important it is to keep them and what are the disadvantages.

Current study would create knowledge about important constraints that delaying the fulfillment of the promises made by the political leaders while delivering their speeches to the general public during election campaigns. As it was required to investigate the mechanisms of constraints that hinder the political parties in fulfilling their promises when they are elected for the office (Kennedy et al., 2020). Moreover, Khajavi and Rasti (2020) raised important questions for future research including identification of specific patterns of the speeches for the future election campaigns which need to be opted by the winners and the losers to convince their respective audiences. Therefore, this study would create knowledge in this important area of research. This study would also be beneficial for the political leaders, voters, and the policy makers to devise important rectifying steps to convince the public and performing at their optimal levels. Moreover, this study would provide a comparative position between the United States a d Pakistan which would lead the political leaders of both the countries in delivering best of their performances.

The research would be conducted in two phases. First, the speeches made by the candidates during the election and their statements in which they made various promises to their voters will be collected. It will then be determined whether the promises made by the said candidates remain as far as the election is concerned or whether these promises have in fact been made part of their policy after winning the election. The election campaign of Donald Trump V/S Hillary Clinton (2016-2020) would be gathered about United State Presidential Elections to quantify, the promises made by the candidate in the election campaign (six months’ election campaign) published in two leading Newspapers would be collected and analyzed. It would be tried to find out how many of these promises were common by the candidates, apart from how many promises of them supported each other and how many he opposed.

The researcher will find out what kind of voter promises are made in the United States election campaign and then how they are implemented after winning the election, what are the problems in fulfilling them. Also, this research will raise awareness of the difficulties or things that would stand in the way of fulfilling the promises of political leaders while addressing the voters during the election campaign and why political representatives do not keep their promises to their voters.

This research will provide an opportunity for policy makers and elected representatives to perform well and valuable reforms. Therefore, this research will be very useful for Pakistani politicians because it will make it easier for them to find out what kind of promises they can make to the people that can be easily fulfilled after being elected.
