In a discussion WoTLK Classic Gold about Male Blood Elf design, senior artist Joe Keller said that while the model "already has plenty of personality" due to his "easily recognized pose and fashionable hairstyle," the upgrade provided the opportunity to highlight these characteristics, "while still maintaining his iconic style, elevating him up to the same level as other character models."
Although Blizzard hasn't provided an exact date for when the models will be available however, the company has said that it's "focusing on texture and model variations, along with animating and rigging" and is hoping to release the new visual style soon.
The majority of races of World of Warcraft received a visual overhaul in the run-up to the release of the Warlords of Draenor expansion. Following it was announced that the Blood Elves, the Goblin and Worgen races are due to see a visual overhaul.
The Warlords buy WoTLK Classic Gold of Draenor launched earlier this month and surpassed 10 million active players within 24 hours of its release. The game had problems with servers at the time of launch and Blizzard responded by distributing extra game time to subscribers in exchange for compensation.
