Preseason 2022: All changes coming to League of Legends

  • Preseason 2022 is almost here! In case you missed it, we've been discussing our plans since earlier this year to prepare you for the changes that are coming in patch 11.23! Preseason 2022 will be available on PBE starting today for an extended period of time (four weeks!) to make sure we get all the feedback and testing from you before going live with the final sets of changes in November. For an easy reference, check out all the major changes coming to League of Legends below. More information, you can login lol account, you can Buy LoL Account if you don't have an account.

Housekeeping note: Things will be in a pretty early state when you first see them, so expect changes to things like icons, item and effect names, visual and sound effects, stat values, and more as we continue to test and look through feedback during PBE. Barring massive table-flips, this preview page won't be updated after publishing. When the patch notes come out, they'll have all the final details as usual.

    Challenges and New Systems

The new Challenges system gives players a way to showcase their style of play while collecting skins, champions, and just playing the game. This should offer a nice opportunity to see their accomplishment and evolution at the end of every game.

The roots of the Challenges system were paved by the Progression Identity change, which provided even more customization. Riot Games has listened to players and will make the system clearer. From playstyles to their graphic identities, everyone should feel the impact of the League of Legends 2022 Preseason.

Riot Games does not longer want to propose a standardized game for every player. Now, whether they are collecting, devoting their time to a single champion, or playing competitive only, there will be different features for them to enjoy.

Dragons update in 2022 LoL preseason

With Rise of the Elements, map terrain transformation was added, including Dragon Souls and a game-ending Elder Dragon buff.

However, the devs think there is room for expansion on the Dragons system, with more unique environments in the Summoner's Rift.

    Hextech Drake

Standard Buff: Upon slaying the Hextech Drake, you and your teammates each receive 5 Ability Haste and 5% Attack Speed.

Hextech Soul Buff: Upon slaying the Hextech Drake to claim the Soul buff, your Auto Attacks and Abilities will now have a lightning slow chain on a moderate cooldown.

Terrain Changes: Accompanying the appearance of the Hextech Drake, are a few hextech gates. These hextech gates allow the player—after a short channel—to teleport across the river from both the top side and bottom side of the map.

In terms of updates to the Dragons system for the 2022 League of Legends preseason, Riot has some goals in mind:

Creating new terrain features that contribute to unique matches and alter how the game plays out after the map transforms.

Expanding the thematic possibilities of what empowers a dragon and how that empowers champions on the Rift.

While this sounds interesting, players will have to wait until "later this year" for more details as the developer works on the Dragons system.

    Items

2 new Mythic items are coming in the Preseason:

The first is a tank Support item. It is for champions who like to hard engage, so it sounds like it’ll be good on Leona and Nautilus. It will be good on champions with CC as it increases the damage output from your allies after you CC someone.

The second Mythic item is for mages. It reduces enemy damage after you’ve been hit. This will be great on mages when laning against assassins or anyone with lots of burst.
